Box Score The Hood College women's volleyball team could not keep up with Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opponent Eastern, as the Blazers fell in straight sets at home.
Set Scores
The Eagles won 25-10, 25-9, 25-11
Inside the Box Score
Olivia Todd (Charlotte, N.C./Cox Mill) and
Cam Madden (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) finished with four kills.
Jackie Malitzki (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) ended the evening with nine assists.
Ainslee Barger (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) had eight digs in the match.
How it Happened
Hood started off on the right foot, taking the match's first point and going blow-for-blow with Eastern, but with the score tied at six, the Eagles went on an 18-3 run to put the Blazers in a double digit deficit they were unable to come back from and put them down 1-0 in the match.
Set two did not start as well as the previous one for Hood, as Eastern jumped out to a 5-1 lead early on. Although the Blazers got the next two points thanks in part to
Ann Ofoegbu (Falling Waters, W.Va./Spring Mills), that would be as close as they would get, as Hood was only able to get three more kills before the Eagles closed out the set and started thinking about a sweep.
Eastern looked to complete the sweep quickly as they got out to a quick 7-2 lead, but four straight points with kills from Todd and Daley helped Hood get within one. Unfortunately for the home crowd, the Eagles would surge ahead on the heels of a 12-3 run to give themselves another 10-point cushion and complete the sweep a few points later.
For the Opponent
Hannah Pringle led Eastern with eight kills.
Bridgette Kelly accumulated seven service aces.
Notes
The Blazers drop to 7-12 (1-3), while the Eagles improve to 13-5 (4-0).
