How it Happened
The first half for Hood was filled with constant dismantling of the front line of the Eastern defense creating opportunities to cross in passes to trailing attackers.
Hackett found some daylight down the seam of Eagles' territory and found that trailing defender in Frost and her shot went from left to right of the goal and made it past the keeper for an early Blazer 1-0 lead.
Later, Moreno took a swing from deep and found the pipe of the goal, but the ricochet found the stick of Chiavetta and she tapped it in for a 2-0 Blazers lead.
In the closing minutes of the first half found a heavy helping of penalty corners with the Hood defense standing tall. Brown find herself with save from a shot at point blank followed by another save from her backside reaching out and knocking down another attempt.
The Eastern game plan out of half was to press the Hood defenders in their own territory and it proved to pay off. The Eagles' possession with seven minutes left in the third consisted of a one-on-one with Brown an opposing attacker as she provided a key save followed by a defensive save by
Natalie Badour (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) to keep Hood in the clear.
The final strike for the Blazers came when Massey fought a defender for possession in a footrace and won. Her drive towards the goal included maneuvering the ball between another defender's legs before dishing it to Hackett with a bullet into the back of the net to extend the lead to three.
The opposing sideline was not discouraged by the deficit even in the closing minutes some trouble for the Blazers resulted in a shot in front of the goal by Eastern's Uhruh that cut it to 3-1.
That was it as the Blazers rushed the field and celebrated with current and former players on the feat of the day.
