REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Hood College women's ice hockey team were unable to come back and split a weekend series with Middle Atlantic Conference opponent Stevenson, falling 4-1 on the road.
Inside the Box Score
Mia Cheesebrough (Mendota Heights, Mn./Two Rivers) scored the lone goal for the Blazers.
Emily Warren (Nepean, ON, CA/St. Joseph's Catholic Secondary) made 14 saves in the loss, with
Kamryn Sohner (Hilliard, Oh./Sunnyvale) stopping 17 shots in relief.
How it Happened
Both teams had good offensive outings to start the game off, but just under halfway through the first period, Stevenson broke the scoreless tie to take the lead, doubling it with three minutes left to take a 2-0 lead into the second.
Hood went on the penalty kill early to start the second period, and the Mustangs capitalized on it, scoring just seven seconds into their advantage. 18 seconds later, the back of the Blazers' net would twitch again as Stevenson put them in a 4-0 hole, where they would stay for the rest of the period.
Coming out for the final frame, Hood looked like they could get something going when Cheesebrough got the Blazers on the board less than three minutes into the period. Unfortunately, that would be the only goal they would manage to get, as the buzzer sounded to finalize their 4-1 loss.
For the Opponent
Carleigh Barwick scored twice for the Mustangs.
Maggie Sehnert made 16 saves in the win.
Notes
Hood falls to 2-4 (0-4), while Stevenson improves to 2-4 (2-2).
