How it Happened

The duo of Sean Seely (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage High School) and Charles Casas (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen High School) provided the offense for the Blazers in set one. Casas match the score a 1-1 with a kill before Alex Kagoro of Messiah went to work setting up six straight points.

Later Seely scored back-to-back Blazer points before Casas would score the final points of the set for Hood.

Set two started with team blocks leader Russell Odor (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee), and Gael Bravo (Lanham, Md./Bowie High School) rejecting the opposing Sean Gillespie. There would be an exchange back-and-forth of score including a kill by Zander Kirchner (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) to tie the game 4-4.

Another back-and-forth lead change would lead to Messiah scoring five straight points with help of Messiah's Ethan Espenshade and Brayden Parks. The Falcon would use these streaks to end up taking set two.

In the final set, Messiah would take an early 11-4 lead until Kirchner would tally one of his three kills he would earn in the set to pull the Blazers closer. Another set that included streaks of points by either team in groups of two or three before the Blazers would score four straight points with Seely creating opposing attack errors and Casas adding his final kill of the night before Messiah replied with a rally of their own.
