SUNY Cortland 8, Hood 5
-
The Dragons got the scoring started early with a Shannon Scotto sacrifice fly in the third inning.
- The Blazers lacked a hit until the fourth inning, where they dropped all five of their runs. Hood loaded the bases thanks to Kara Heidlauf (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal High School) reaching via a single that scored Robin Charlton (Philadelphia, Pa./MaST Community Charter School II), a Mallorie Hetzel (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) fielder's choice and a Kaelyn Blocher (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) hit by pitch.
- Sammy McIntosh (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) walked and scored Hetzel before Sammy McIntosh (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) hit a hard ball to shortstop to score the Blazers' third run to lead 3-1. The big swing was the Jocelyn Pfleiger (Quakertown, Pa./Dock Mennonite Academy) single to left to score both McIntosh and Kaelyn Blocher (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) and put the score at 5-1.
-
The big inning at the end of the day is what kept the Dragons record perfect. Gottleib kept the Dragons in check until the bases loaded in the seventh. Cortland scored via sacrifice fly, single, double and error to flip a Blazer 5-2 lead into the 8-5 final in favor of the Dragons.
Hamilton 2, Hood 0
-
Hamilton put traffic on the bases early as the leadoff hitter singled to right and later a batter later walked to put runners at the corners. The Continentals cashed in on a A Priante single to put Hamilton up 1-0.
-
The Blazers would threaten in the third inning when Sammy McIntosh (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) would sneak a hit down the left field line for a double followed by Jocelyn Pfleiger (Quakertown, Pa./Dock Mennonite Academy) being hit by a pitch. However, opposing pitcher Tara Graham would get two straight outs to end the threat.
-
Hamilton would be held hitless until the fifth inning, eventually in the sixth inning having their leadoff hitter reaching second before scoring on a throwing error 2-0.
For the Opponent
-
Hamilton's Graham would win the game two pitching duel allowing only four hits and striking out eight in a complete game shutout.
