Hood 8, Mary Washington 2
-
Austin Rhue (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) led off with a base hit to start the bottom half of the first before being moved from station to station via small ball and then scoring on a wild pitch.
-
Move to the Blazers' next at-bat, where Sebastian Paz (Miami, Fla./Immaculata-La Salle) reached first on an error and later scored on an Alex Jenkins (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) double. Later, Jenkins scored on a passed ball to put Hood up 3-0. The big damage in the inning was a towering homer to left field by Austin Rhue (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) scoring Keegan Brennan (Lake Wynonah, Pa./Nativity BVM) who walked earlier to extend the Hood lead 5-0.
-
Alexander didn't allow a hit until the forth inning making quick work of the Eagles. The fifth inning he would not go unscaled as a hit batter turned into a run after Oliver Martin grounded out to second base to score Martinez.
-
DeProspero would relieve Alexander, his only blemish was a double by Ty Lowe scoring a runner to put the score at 7-2.
-
Rhue would rinse and repeat as he singled and stole second and eventually scored on a fielder's choice created by Amrit Brown (Asheville, N.C./Asheville) to cap scoring off at 8-2.
Mary Washington 2, Hood 1
-
In the top of the third, the Eagles' Oliver Martin drove a single to the outfield and moved via passed ball before scoring on a Connor Hassan single that the throw was sent into right field.
-
Later a ball lifted to the outfield by Steifman scored Hassan putting Mary Washington up 2-0.
-
Flip to the bottom of the inning, where Austin Rhue (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) reached on a walk and Tyler Schwarzman (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) singled. Stephen Sommer (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun) grounded to second and putout Schwarzman but the wild throw from the receiving shortstop to get the double play at first base scored Rhue.
-
There would be a stalemate between Tyler Cooney (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) and Eagles' Gabe Delgado with no runs scoring in the last four innings. Schwarzman's single in the fifth was the Blazers' last runner via hit.
