GRANTHAM, Pa. - Hood College Softball continues conference play with two losses on the road against Messiah with scores of 2-1 and 9-1.

Rebecca Gottleib (Linthicum, Md./North County) pitched the entirety of game one allowing two runs on six hits and struck out seven batters on the day.

Sara Munson (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) suffered the loss in game two allowing eight earned runs and two walks.
At the Plate

Chloe Saunders (Middletown, Md./Middletown) drove in Hood's sole RBI in game one.

Rebecca Gottleib (Linthicum, Md./North County) had three hits on the day and scored both Hood's runs.

Hannah Cohen (North Wales, Pa./North Penn High School) hit a double in her first plate appearance in game one.
Messiah 2, Hood 1
Early traffic on the bases for Hood as Jocelyn Pfleiger (Quakertown, Pa./Dock Mennonite Academy) drove a ball through the right side and Cohen doubled to put two runners in scoring position with two outs. However, the Falcons got out of the jam with a groundout.
The Blazers returned to bat in the third with another chance to score. Gottleib drove a single to left field and she stole second shortly after. Saunders then drove that runner in scoring position home with hit to left for a 1-0 lead.
Messiah was left quiet until the fifth inning where runners occupied first and second base with no outs. The Falcon's Schlabach singled up the middle and knotted the game up 1-1. Gottlieb was able to escape the inning with no further harm after Cohen fielded a ground ball and cut the runner down at home plate to preserve the score.
The Falcons started out the seventh with a bunt single by Dyer to put a base runner on. The next batter Burger would single to centerfield. With Burger rounding first and heading to second a game of tag was played to cut down Burger meanwhile Dyer rounded the bases and scored from first to end the game.
Messiah 9, Hood 1
The Blazers continued the early inning pressure as Pfleiger and Gottleib singled with nobody out. A Saunders fielder's choice brought in Pfleiger to yet again put Hood up 1-0.
Messiah's Dyer would walk to leadoff the bottom half of the first and steal second. Dyer would score on an RBI groundout by Schlabach to tie the game 1-1.
The Falcons would continue to score eight runs in the final three innings to overpower Hood and end the game.
For the Opponent

Feaser got the win in game two pitching five innings allow four hits and one earned run.

Collison pitch a complete game in game one allowing four hits and one run while striking out five.

Dyer went 5-for-6 on the day, scoring three times and stealing three bases.
