FREDERICK, Md. — The Hood women's tennis team earned several wins at the bottom of the lineup in its conference opener against visiting Alvernia University, but ultimately fell 6-3 on Saturday afternoon.
Doubles
The third doubles team of Georgia Falzone and
Samantha Huffer (Lovettsville, Va./Woodgrove) earned the 8-5 victory.
Singles
Georgia Falzone won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, while
Natalie Mackie (Elkton, Md./Elkton) won a tight match 7-6(8), 6-4 at the No. 6 position.
In the first singles spot,
Anna Frye (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) came back from losing the first set but stumbled in a tight super tiebreaker, 6-1, 6-7 (4), 10-8.
