FREDERICK, Md. - Women's volleyball was defeated 3-0 in Thursday Night's "All Hood, All Blue" match.

Shenandoah defeated the Blazers 25-22, 25-13, 25-22. 

Inside the Box Scores

Sami Betley (Bel Air, Md./Mercy) led the Blazers with six kills. Cam Madden (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) added five of her own.

Maria Ricketts (Adamstown, Md./New Life Christian) had 12 total assists. Ainslee Barger (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) did a good job of setting up her teammates and got six assists in the process.

Senior Molly McGraw (Forest Hill, Md./Concordia Prep) finished the night with a season high 11 digs. Katie Goddard (Keedysville, Md/Boonsboro), along with Barger and Ricketts, got in on the effort with seven digs each.

How it Happened

Hood jumped out to an early 6-0 lead highlighted by back-to-back kills by Madden. Shenandoah made things interesting, tying the set multiple times before taking the lead for good. In the end, it was two kills by Ava Panullo that finished the set for the Hornets.
 
Shenandoah took advantage of some early Hood errors to build a 12-3 lead, but the Blazers fought back. Mary LeBlanc (Suffolk, Va/Stonebridge) stepped up and got two kills. Some late errors and a kill by Regan Minney helped the Hornets close out this set as well.
 
The third set was neck-and-neck from the start; it was tied on four separate occasions. Ricketts' exceptional work as a facilitator and a trio of kills for Betley almost helped the Blazers pull this one out. After a tie 22-22, the Hornets scored three straight to win the match.
