Field Hockey leads successful crusade over Knights

FREDERICK, MD – A goal scored in each quarter was the statement to keep the field hockey squad undefeated at home in the 5-1 win over Neumann on Saturday afternoon.

Inside the Box Score

Bella Butler (Hamilton, Va./Loudoun Valley) put two shots up while scoring a goal and assisting on a goal.

Madeline Moreno (Mansfield, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) put up seven shots and had a goal plus an assist on the day.

Bianca Scally (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) had a pair of assists on the day.

How it Happened

Hackett found herself right in front of the goalkeeper and redirected a scorcher delivered by Bianca Scally (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) struck the back right of the box to put the Blazers in front 1-0.

Hood was utilizing the open space given by Neumann by using cross-field lobs to create opportunities for shots beside the crease.

Great defensive play by Neumann's goalkeeper Emma Schneider in the first quarter could not keep a free Moreno strike out of the goal with less than two minutes to extend the lead.

Emma Massey (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) started at the opponent's defending quarter of the field and maneuvered through a sea of defenders to net Hood's third goal of the day two minutes into the second.

The Knights later made an offensive push that included a handful of penalty corners but Richana Brown (Dover, Del./Dover) went upfield to stop momentum.

It took until after half for Neumann to receive a pass in front of the Blazer goal and a wrap-around shot put the Knights in the score column.

Emma Numme (Shrub Oak, NY/Lakeland) wanted to keep pouring it on for the Blazers and responded within 50 seconds to bring the Blazer lead back to three goals.

The Blazers' last goal came off the stick of Bella Butler (Hamilton, Va./Loudoun Valley) after rebounding a Moreno shot off of the Neumann goalkeeper's pads.
