ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The field hockey squad took a tie game into the fourth quarter but couldn't keep the Blue Jays away as they fell to Elizabethtown 2-1 on Wednesday night.
Inside the Box Score
Bianca Scally (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) scored Hood's goal unassisted while having two shots on goal on the night.
Madeline Moreno (Mansfield, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) put up four shots, two on goal.
How it Happened
In the first quarter, the ball couldn't leave the Blazer defensive half as four corners in the last ten minutes bended the gameplan but no break with a clean slate going into the second.
An unassisted goal near the end of the second by the Jays' Hannah Long put the opponent up heading into the half.
The lead wouldn't last long as Hood started to pepper goalkeeper Lillie DeBlasio as two straight shots were saved before Scally put a swing into the back of the goal to tie it up in the 33'.
Hood's defense held up against back-to-back shots as time expired to take the 1-1 tie to the final fifteen.
Three minutes passed in the fourth before Elizabethtown came knocking at the door with three shots saved by
Richana Brown (Dover, Del./Dover) before one shot too many broke the tie and ultimately became the game winner.
