CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Hood College men's soccer team were unable to come away with a victory in a cross-conference matchup with Desales, falling 3-1 on the road,
Inside the Box Score
Devin Ledman (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown High School) scored the Blazers' lone goal, with
Cam Simpler (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink) assisting.
Nick Humphries (Potomac, Md./Potomac) made nine saves in the match.
How it Happened
Desales' offense poured shots on early, getting three good chances all within three minutes of each other, and despite an attempt from
Ben Keville (Gambrills, Md./Arundel) to start something for Hood, the Bulldogs would score first in the 29th minute.
Although the Blazers managed to put together some more chances in the later stages of the half, they were unable to find the equalizer but managed to head into the locker room only down 1-0.
After another flurry of chances from the Bulldogs started off the second half, the pressure on the defense eventually got to the Blazers, as they fouled a player in the box to give them a penalty kick they would convert on to put Hood in a 2-0 hole 67 minutes into the match.
Despite more good looks from Hood, a lack of sustained offensive pressure made it difficult to get anything by the Desales goalkeeper, with a corner kick for them in the 86th minute essentially put the game away with a 3-0 lead. A great shot from Ledman in the 90th minute got the Blazers on the board and took away the shutout bid, but 21 seconds later the final buzzer sounded to end the game 3-1 in favor of the Bulldogs.
For the Opponent
Liam MacDonald, Joseph Reteneller, and Bryan Flor all scored for Desales.
Dave Kroon assisted on the Bulldogs' first goal of the night.
