How it Happened
The Blazers looked to separate early into the match against the Lions, as
Rachael Low (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) found teammate
Zoey Hicks (Halethorpe, Md./Catonsville) down the sideline who crossed the ball perfectly into the middle of the box for
Sara Yeich (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area) who fired into the back of net to give Hood a 1-0 advantage.
Albright looked to answer with a shot of their own, but
Ashley Stine (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) denied the Lion's goal attempt.
Offensively, the Lions stayed aggressive, as Albright's Daiveni Fisher looked for the equalizing goal but Stine made an acrobatic save to stop the Lions attack.
The Lions earned a corner kick shortly after their first attempt, and fired a shot but Stine continued to stand tall in goal for the Blazers.
Headed into halftime, the Blazers had the lead, and the momentum on their side.
Midway through the second half the Blazers looked to separate from the Lions as Yeich looked to get her second goal of the contest but missed the top right corner of the goal.
Jen Vasquez (Westminster, Md./Westminster) fired a shot after the Yeich attempt, but the shot missed the corner of the net.
With minutes remaining in the contest,
Ambrea Gaither (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) found a wide open
Ryley Backer (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) deep in the Albright box, who capitalized on the opportunity and fired a shot into the back of the net to give Hood a 2-0 lead and ended any chances the Lions had to get back into the match.
