Men's Basketball battles out win over Ramapo

WESTMINISTER, Md. – The men's basketball team with Jevon Yarbrough (Hagerstown, Md./Williamsport) dropping 21 with Karron Mallory (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) and Kullen Robinson (Alexandria, Va./Alexandria City) scoring 18 points during 93-73 win over Ramapo at the Battle of D.C. & Maryland hosted by McDaniel College on Saturday afternoon.

Inside the Box Score

The trio hit four three pointers apiece to be feared outside the arc.

Yarbrough posted five assists and shot 70 percent from the field.

Robinson grabbed eight boards and dished three assists.

Jake Dallas (York, Pa./York Catholic) shot an efficient 4-for-5 from the field in his career high in minutes.

How it Happened

After Ramapo with a turnaround jumper at the foul line from Roland Majors, Hood responded with a 13-2 run led by a pair of Robinson threes and some driving layups.

The Blazers forced the Roadrunners to pass cross court around the arc to move the ball around early in the game to have them work hard for every point. Despite the close out, the second chance opportunities kept Ramapo in striking distance with their shooting still remaining at almost 50 percent.

The #letitfly crew kept the foot on the gas as 11 three pointers kept the distance no matter how well the opposition shot, hence the softening of the defense as the first half ended.

The rotating lineup from Hood gave fresh legs on the defensive end and with more Roadrunner misses came the continued scoring success from the Blazers and the game pushed into landslide land.

"I thought we went through the motions defensively most of the first half but from the start of the second half our defensive intensity set the tone and that was what put Ramapo away," said head coach Chad Dickman. "They're a strong program that's been to the Final Four this decade, so we knew they weren't going to roll over."

For the Opponent

Tim Linton shot 7-for-10 from the field to score 20 for the Roadrunners.
