WINCHESTER, Va. – The men's track and field opened its indoor season with a tuneup meet at the SU Holiday Kickoff Open hosted by Shenandoah University, finishing eighth overall with 19 team points in a field of 10 programs.
Top Times
Juan Carlos Barberena led the way for the Blazers with a standout run in the 400-meter dash, placing 6th overall in 52.22 seconds, earning valuable points for the team.
In the pole vault,
Neil Rozario (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area High School) cleared 3.65 meters to secure 4th place, while Carter Naiman finished with a 7th-place finish at 3.35 meters.
Distance standout
Alex Seskar (Great Mills, Md./Great Mills) delivered a strong effort in the 5000-meter run, finishing 3rd with a time of 15:58.51, marking one of Hood's highest placements of the day.
The Blazers also saw contributions from
Chris Sappe (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana), who placed 6th in the 3000-meter run (9:30.55), and
Warren Hersh (Havre de Grace, Md./The Tome School), who finished 12th in the 5000-meter run (17:05.65).
Freshman
Ramzee Keyrouz (Bethesda, MD/Walter Johnson) impressed in his indoor collegiate debut, clocking 17:38.18 in the 5000-meter run for 15th place.
