READING, Pa. – The Hood College men's track & field team delivered several strong performances Saturday at the PLEX Shootout, hosted by Alvernia University.
Juan Barberena (Urbana, Md./Urbana) headlines with his first place finish in the 400 meter followed by
Chris Sappe's (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) school record in the mile run.
Top Times
Senior
Chris Sappe (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) paced the Blazers with a runner-up finish in the men's mile, crossing the line in 4:25.35 for a school record that he previous had owned. Sappe also competed in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:04.33. Senior
Leule Yohannes (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) competed in the mile, finishing in 5:06.23.
Junior
Juan Barberena (Urbana, Md./Urbana) captured first place in the 400 meters, posting a winning time of 52.53. Barberena added a Top 10 performance in the 200 meters, finishing ninth overall in 23.58.
In distance events, junior
Warren Hersh (Havre de Grace, Md./The Tome School) placed 22nd in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:03.90, while first year
Ramzee Keyrouz (Bethesda, MD/Walter Johnson) followed closely behind in 25th at 10:11.89.
In the Field
Senior
Neil Rozario (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area High School) represented Hood in the pole vault, clearing 3.60 meters to finish 15th.
Sophomore
Salieu Ballah (Frederick, Md./Sierra Leone Grammar School) competed in the shot put, recording a throw of 7.73 meters.
