SALISBURY, Md. – Baseball keeps the No. 9 Salisbury Gulls at bay for the first three innings with a 2-0 lead, but the powerhouse scattered two big innings to take down the Blazers 12-2 in seven innings on Tuesday afternoon to conclude the regular season.
In the Batter's Box
Matthew Stout (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) was a perfect 3-for-3 on the day with an RBI.
Jonathan Tyndall (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) blasted his first career homer for one of his two hits.
Rhett Robbins (Frederica, Del./Lake Forest) had a base knock and scored.
On the Mound
Frank Spaide (Bensalem, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) in his final start got two innings of scoreless ball allowing one hit and striking out two.
Salisbury 12, Hood 2
The Blazers playing with house money struck first as Robbins notched the first hit of the game and advanced on a ball that skipped off the dirt before Stout drove a ball up the middle for the 1-0.
Tyndall went big fly to right field to start off the following inning and put Hood on spoiler alert.
In the bottom half of the second after Spaide plunked the leadoff got a 1-2-3 inning including back-to-back K's.
The Gulls were kept quiet by the Blazers until the fourth inning with two free passes in the beginning of the inning that quickly turned into a snowball and six runs for the host.
Stout would reach aboard to start the sixth but was pinch ran and picked off to end the inning. Salisbury poured it on and another five runs put the game to bed.
