BRIDGEWATER, Va. – An early response to a deficit put the Blazers ahead in a nonconference game against Bridgewater but fell in the following innings with a score of 13-3 on Wednesday night.
In the Batter's Box
Jonathan Tyndall (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) roped a double, walked and scored in the game.
Jack Patterson (Boyds, Md./Northwest) scored and reached base twice.
Amrit Brown (Asheville, N.C./Asheville) had a base knock and an RBI.
From the Bullpen
Aaron Heller (Philadelphia, Pa./Jack Barrack Hebrew Acad.) was the opener, throwing an inning allowing one earned run.
Tyler Knill (Frederick/Frederick) threw the next two allowing one hit and no runs across.
Harrison Ludington (Woodbridge, Va/Forest Park High School) threw two thirds and allowed a hit.
Remi Schaber (Memphis, Tenn./Lausanne Collegiate School) threw the final inning allowing one earned run.
Bridgewater 13, Hood 3
The gameplan for the Blue & Grey was a bullpen game from the start, but a pair of singles to start put pressure to cycle through arms early. A 2-0 count on the fourth batter turned into a double in the gap clearing the bases and putting Bridgewater up 2-0. Knill followed in the second inning and got the 1-2-3 to put Hood back in contention.
In the third inning, Tyndall ripped an inside pitch into the left field corner and stood on second base with no outs.
Jasper Wilfrid (Mountain View, Ca./Mountain View) moved Tyndall over with a groundout and
Keegan Brennan (Lake Wynonah, Pa./Nativity BVM) finished the job with a soft groundball to the left side to score Hood's first run.
Later in the fourth inning,
Ty Broughton (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) and Patterson drew free passes with two outs to put traffic on the bases. Brown fouled off a pitch to go down 0-2 before finding green grass in right field to plate Broughton to tie the game. More free passes gave Hood the lead with Tyndall working a walk and Wilfrid getting plunked to earn his RBI and a Blazer lead.
Bridgewater would respond in the bottom half of the inning with a leadoff double and a walk to leave the Blazers uncomfortable. The Eagles churned out two runs via a sacrifice and a single, but the big hurt came with two runners on and Bridgewater's Chadwell went big fly to right field for the 7-2 lead.
For the Opponent
Zack Chadwell had five RBIs including a home run.
