FREDERICK, Md. – Women's Soccer finds their ray of sunshine in the second half with
Kiley O'Grady (Frederick, Md/Oakdale) breaking the draw in order to shutout the Saints 1-0 at Thomas Athletic Field on Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened
Teams battled heavy rain through pregame and in most of the first half having to work scrappy to keep the ball on the ground to keep possession.
Blazers almost found the silver lining early when
Rachael Low (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) lofted a ball over a sea of jerseys to Grow who got a touch on the pass to be saved by the outstretched keeper. The ball still rolling on the turf, another touch was taken and an army crawl by the Saints keeper right at the post pushed the ball away and out of bounds.
Both sides had strong chances to open the second half, but with strong supporting defensive casts with big blocks that prevented shots between the posts. The rain had stopped and the offensive became more explosive for both sides.
Marymount on a defensive retreat had O'Grady playing pest on the ball, but not only did she cause a buzz, she swiped possession from the defender. O'Grady outpaced all the blue jerseys and beat the keeper to the left to score to take a Blazer lead.
Ryley Backer (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) and Low played spoiler in the backfield as the Saints marched down the field, hips were thrown and balls were sent out to pause the attack and shut down Marymount for the day.
