ASTON, Pa. – The Hood College men's volleyball team fought hard but could not come away with a win against Neumann University, falling 3-0 in straight sets.

Charles Casas (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) led the Blazers with 14 kills.
Cameron Nugent (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) ended the evening with 25 assists.
Dane Lyons (Taneytown, Md/Francis Scott Key) had eight digs.
Ryan Elias (Washington, D.C./Washington Leadership Academy) totaled three blocks.
How it Happened
Despite going down 6-3 early, the Blazers were able to keep up and eventually take the lead with a 7-3 run. Neither team could get too much offensive momentum for most of the rest of the set, but with Hood ahead 16-14, Neumann went on a 6-1 run to take a three-point lead.
The Blazers regained their composure and went on a 5-1 run of their own for a 22-21 advantage and got a chance to close the set at 24-25, but the Knights scored the next three points to force an overtime and eventually win the set.
Already down a set, Hood got off to a slow start in set two, quickly falling behind 8-3. It again managed to make a bit of a comeback to cut its deficit to 11-9, but Neumann was able to get three straight to make the battle more uphill once again.
Unfortunately, a second comeback was unable to be made, as the Blazers eventually went down two sets on the verge of a sweep.
With backs against the wall, Hood came out strongly for a 7-5 lead, but the Knights fought back to go up 12-11. Both squads locked in for a while from that point, with kills from Casas and
Blake Catts (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) keeping the Blazers in the hunt. After Catts got the
Blazers within one at 17-16, Neumann scored the next five points to build a lead Hood would not be able to come back from, ultimately closing out the set and handing hood a 3-0 loss.

Trey Edmonds led the Knights with 13 kills, three aces, and seven digs.
Noah Banaag finished the match with 27 assists.
