READING, Pa. – The Hood College men's track & field team wrapped up the 2026 Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships with several solid performances across sprints, mid-distance, and relay events but
Chris Sappe's (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) performance in the 800-meter race was rewarded with a silver medal, marking one of the best finishes in program history at the MAC indoor meet.
Top Times
The standout moment of the weekend came from senior
Chris Sappe (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana), who delivered in the men's 800, placing 2nd overall in 1:54.50. Sappe stayed in contention throughout a tightly packed final and surged late to secure the silver—earning major points and representing Hood on the podium.
Junior Juan Carlos Barberena turned in a strong race in the men's 400 meter, finishing 12th overall with a time of 52.18. Running out of the fast section, Barberena held his own against some of the conference's top quarter-milers and posted one of his best indoor marks.
Hood also fielded a squad in the men's 4x800-meter relay, finishing 10th with a time of 8:27.10. The lineup featured:
