CHESTER, Pa. – The No.3-seeded Hood College baseball team will square off against No. 2 Widener on the road for the first round of the MAC Commonwealth tournament today with first pitch set for 3:30 p.m. in the best-of-three series. Game two will take place on Saturday at noon with the if necessary game to follow.
The Blazers finished the season with a 16-23 overall record with a 10-11 record in MAC Commonwealth play. Hood's season included series wins over Eastern, Alvernia and the sweep of Stevenson.
The Pride finished the regular season with a 20-18 overall record and a 13-8 MAC Commonwealth record. This season included two conference series sweeps over Albright and Hood.
KEY PLAYER TO WATCH
Skylar Albright (Hendersonville, N.C./Hendersonville) will take his Friday start as he amassed over 50 innings pitched this season allowing 1.41 WHIP taking on the conference's best pitchers to open up the series.
Rhett Robbins (Frederica, Del./Lake Forest) and
Sean Seely (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) both sport a .333 batting average and kept the clip hot during conference play ultimately leading to the playoff berth.
Ty Broughton (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington),
Amrit Brown (Asheville, N.C./Asheville) and
Quade Gannon (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) have used their veteran experience on the defensive side to hold down the fort for the squad.
Kamari Chisolm (Gainesville, Va./Bishop O'Connell) in the leadoff spot has provided speed with 22 bases stolen and counting.
SEMIFINAL GAME INFORMATION
MAC Commonwealth ticket pricing are as follows: $8 (adults), $6 (senior citizens 65+), and $6 (youth 7-17). MAC students with ID and children six and under with an adult get in for free.
