How it Happened

To start set one, both teams' offense's were rolling as both teams traded points back and forth. The score sat at 5-4, and after two attacking errors by the Bison, the Blazers held the slight advantage 6-5. Cam Madden (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) kept Hood's run going with a service ace to now lead 7-5. Later in the set neither team was able to pull away, but Hood still was leading 14-13. The Bison took the lead, as it now sat at 22-19, but a late kill by Grace Tamburin (Wheeling, WV./Wheeling Park) gave Hood some hope. Unfortunately, those would be the last points of set one for the Blazers as the Bison scored the last three points and took the set 25-20.

The Blazers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after an attacking error by the Bison, followed by a Maria Ricketts (Adamstown, Md./New Life Christian) service ace. Gallaudet responded quickly and knotted the game back up at 3-3. Hood extended their lead 8-4, after another service ace, now from Anna Huber (Bel Air, Md./Greater Grace Christian Academy). The Bison, unfazed by the deficit, were able to fight back into the contest and tie it back 11 to 11. Back-to-back kills first by Madison Powell (Midlothian, Va./Manchester), and then Mary LeBlanc (Suffolk, Va/Stonebridge), would put the score back in favor of the Blazers 13-11. Both teams were unable to shake each other as the score sat at 17. After a service error by Hood, would then give Gallaudet the slight lead, and they wouldn't look back and went on a run to finish with a 25-17 set two win.

Hood had to
start set three fast, but Gallaudet would jump to an early 4-0 lead. As the set continued, Hood was consistently playing catch up, as the score now was 8-5. The Bison went on a run and now led 12-7. Gallaudet stayed persistent and now jumped to a 10 point lead as the Blazers found themselves in a hole now down 22-12. Hood went on a run late in the contest and was able to cut it down 24-17. The Blazers rally would be stopped after a kill by the Bison's Brielle Worley and won set three 25-17.
