Inside The Box Score

How it Happened

The Blazers started off the night rocky, going down 4-0 before scoring their first point of the night on a service error 4-1. First kill for the Blazers on the night was made by Emerson O'Connor (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) assisted by Maria Ricketts (Adamstown, Md./New Life Christian). The Blazers started to pick up momentum, scoring four points, two of which were service aces by Ricketts and Katie Goddard (Keedysville, Md/Boonsboro) in a row to make the score 9-6. The Green Terror then went on a run offensively to win the first set 25-11.

Set two followed the same path as set one, as the Blazers saw themselves fall to 10-4 before calling a timeout to regroup. The timeout, however, didn't help the Blazers come back from down falling to McDaniel in the second set 25-12.

At the start of the third set the Blazers seemed to get in stride by exchanging points where Isabelle Garrett (Fluvanna, Va./Fluvanna) managed to score two kills back-to-back on McDaniel making the score 5-5.  The Blazers were able to pull ahead of McDaniel 7-5 with a service ace from O'Connor and a kill scored from Thornton. The Blazers time in the lead was unfortunately cut short, and they found themselves down four points in the latter half of the third set 17-13. The Blazers couldn't stop McDaniel's offensive onslaught where they were able to take the set 25-15.
