FREDERICK, MD- The women's soccer team struggled offensively against Washington College of Maryland, falling 2-0 Saturday afternoon despite a season high 11 saves from goalkeeper Marlie DeRenzis (Scranton, Pa./North Pocono).

How it Happened
 
The Blazers started off the game not in their favor, allowing multiple shots on target from Washington College of (Md.).  The Shorewomen struck first in the 11^th minute, taking an early 1-0 lead to open the match.
 
The Shorewomen mounted an offensive charge in the latter half of the first period, forcing the Blazers into difficult decisions and earning multiple corner kicks. The Shorewomen added their second and final goal of the match when Sophie Kilbride found the back of the net off a set-piece assist from Ashleigh Peace, extending the lead to 2-0.
 
In the second half the Blazers defense turned up, holding off multiple offensive corners and through balls from the Shorewomen. Hood's first offensive spark was seen at the 47th minute of the game by Dani Farias (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) but was not able to convert. It was within this half that DeRenzis was able to secure six of her 11 saves on the day, holding off the Shorewomen to two goals.
