ASHLAND, Va. – The Hood College field hockey team after Goucher's fast start chipped away down the stretch but fell 2-1 against the Gophers at Thomas Athletic Field on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
Not long after the initial whistle, the Yellow Jackets struck first as Randolph-Macon's Olivia Grene found the back of the net in the opening 47 seconds. Despite the early offense from Randolph-Macon Hood would tie the match up at 1 as Fleming found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Moreno before the first quarter concluded.
Opening up the second half, the Blazers decided to make a defensive switch as
Harper Buettner (Haymarket, Va./Gainesville) was checked in at goalkeeper and earned herself some varsity time.
Although Hood's defense stood tall against the Yellow Jackets managed to gain the lead just three minutes into the third quarter.
Then as the fourth and final quarter came to a close, Randolph-Macon decided to shut the door with four minutes left in gametime, ending the series off 3-1 in favor of the Yellow Jackets.

Janne Roelink scored two goals for the Yellow Jackets.
Olivia Greene found the back of the net once.
Valentina Ambrogi-Torres made six saves in the win.
