BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV – The women's golf team opened their season at the Shenandoah Fall Invite after 36 holes at the Cacapon State Park Golf Course finished just outside the Top 10 this past weekend.
On the Scorecards
The team finished just inside the Top 10 after the first day;
Olivia Kamieniarz (Big Sky, Mon./Lone Peak),
Mia Cheesebrough (Mendota Heights, Mn./Two Rivers/St. Paul Riveters) and
Gabi Miller (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville) all birdied Hole 3 while
Emily White (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) and
Keira Corcoran (Queenstown, Md./Queen Anne's County) contributed birdies on Hole 11 and 18 respectively.
Kamieniarz started the tournament in the Top 25 thanks to six pars and birdie on the first round's 18 holes and her 82 was the lowest ever by a first-year student and Top 10 all time. However, her two birdies on day two weren't enough to overcome the bogey-plus holes she took on.
Cheesebrough broke her personal record on the first day with an 85 with good play on the front nine and in her final 18 prevented the crooked number to reach another personal record this time for 36 holes at 172.
On the Leaderboard
Juliette Coffey of Batten took the individual trophy by shooting even on the tournament.
Batten University took the top spot by two strokes.
The Blazers finish in 11
th out of 17 teams with a team score after 36 holes of 717, 18 strokes behind 10
th place Batten (B).
