Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The Hood College Field Hockey squad out shoots the Marlins of Batten University, but the Blazers were unable to capitalize on their offensive opportunities, falling 2-0 on the road Sunday, September 6.

Emma Massey (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) led the team in total shots on goal with two, and total shots with three.
How it Happened
The Blazers came out of the gate with offensive pressure, forcing a penalty corner early in the first quarter. The opportunity led to a shot from
Ellie Dainton (Mays Landing, NJ./Saint Joseph Academy), which was saved by the Marlins goalkeeper.
The squad locked up the Marlins throughout the first half, holding them without a shot, while Hood was also held without a shot of its own. Batten then broke the scoreless deadlock in the third quarter, scoring twice to take a 2-0 lead. The two goals proved to be the only goals of the game.
The Blazers offense continued to create opportunities in the second half, putting pressure on the Marlins defense and looking to cut into the Batten lead. However, Hood was unable to overcome the two-goal deficit, ultimately falling 0-2 on the road.

Kellyn McCloud secured her second goal of the season.
Berkley Miller tallied seven saves on the day.
