WASHINGTON--The Hood women's tennis team blanked host Trinity
9-0 Tuesday afternoon to improve to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the
Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference.
The Blazers dominated the match, dropping just two games in
doubles action and eight games in singles play.
Laura Wanner and Christina Rosa started the day with an 8-2 win
at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 team of Larisa Buriak and Christina
Ocampos-Barry and the No. 3 tandem of Stephanie Garrett and
Stephanie Cowen then posted 8-0 wins.
Hood had little trouble in singles action, getting shutout wins
from Barry at No. 1 and Cowen at No. 6. Garrett and Buriak dropped
just one game each in wins at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots.
Wanner picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4. Rosa completed the
shutout with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5.
