Women's Lacrosse Falls to York

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood women's lacrosse suffered its third straight loss with a 19-2 setback to York Thursday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

Freshman Liz Rakowski led the Blazers (3-5) with a goal and an assist, while fellow freshman Ashley Saylor notched her first career goal.

Jaclyn Girsh scored four goals and added six assists to lead York (5-8). Carla Thomas and Jaclyn VanLuit also found the net four times for the Spartans.

York took control by scoring the first nine goals before Hood got on the board when Rakowski scored off an assist from Laura Pitts with just under two minutes left in the opening half. It was Rakowski's 10th goal in her last three games.

After York tallied the first three goals of the second half to open a 12-1 advantage, Saylor scored her first career goal off an assist from Rakowski.

The Spartans then closed out the game with seven unanswered goals.

Anne Feustle made three saves for York, while Lauren Lieb stopped 10 shots for Hood.

The Blazers return to action Saturday when they visit Ferrum at 11 a.m.
