FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood women's lacrosse suffered its third
straight loss with a 19-2 setback to York Thursday afternoon at
Thomas Athletic Field.
Freshman Liz Rakowski led the Blazers (3-5) with a goal and an
assist, while fellow freshman Ashley Saylor notched her first
career goal.
Jaclyn Girsh scored four goals and added six assists to lead
York (5-8). Carla Thomas and Jaclyn VanLuit also found the net four
times for the Spartans.
York took control by scoring the first nine goals before Hood
got on the board when Rakowski scored off an assist from Laura
Pitts with just under two minutes left in the opening half. It was
Rakowski's 10th goal in her last three games.
After York tallied the first three goals of the second half to
open a 12-1 advantage, Saylor scored her first career goal off an
assist from Rakowski.
The Spartans then closed out the game with seven unanswered
goals.
Anne Feustle made three saves for York, while Lauren Lieb
stopped 10 shots for Hood.
The Blazers return to action Saturday when they visit Ferrum at
11 a.m.
