Women's Lacrosse Edged by Ferrum

FERRUM, Va.--Stephanie Perih scored a free position goal with 1:55 remaining to cap a three-goal comeback and give host Ferrum a 5-4 win over Hood Saturday morning.

Hood (3-6) used goals by Liz Rakowski and Annie Lavery to take a 4-2 lead midway through the second half, but Ferrum (3-8) tallied the final three goals to snap a five-game losing streak. Hood suffered its fourth loss in a row.

Kerry Toomey began Ferrum's comeback with a free position goal with 8:05 left, and the Panthers pulled even when Sarah Kaye found the net off an assist from Perih with 5:25 to play.

Perih then scored the game-winner less than four minutes later.

Perih gave Ferrum an early 1-0 lead with a free position goal less than four minutes into the game.

Hood answered with 11:45 left in the first half when Laurie Burrier scored off an assist from Rakowski.

Kaye put Ferrum back in front when she converted a feed from Toomey with four minutes to go in the opening frame, but Burrier netted an unassisted goal just 49 seconds before halftime to pull the Blazers even at the break.

Jana Rodriguez made eight saves for Ferrum, while Lauren Lieb also had eight stops for Hood.

The Blazers return to action Sunday when they visit Averett at 1 p.m.
