YORK, Pa.--The Hood College women's basketball team (0-5, 0-1
CAC) suffered a 67-38 setback to the York College (Pa.) Spartans
(5-0, 1-0 CAC) in the Blazers' Capital Athletic Conference debut
Wednesday evening at Charles Wolf Gymnasium.
The Spartans scored the first 15 points of the contest and held
the Blazers scoreless for the first 10:32 until Jen Willison hit a
layup at the 9:28 mark off a feed from Sara Wastler. Hood closed to
within nine on two occasions in the first half but York scored the
last six points of the half and led 31-16 at halftime.
Hood's shooting percentage improved in the second half but the
deficit was too much to overcome as the Spartans went on to win
their fifth game in row.
Willison connected on 5-of-11 from the floor for 10 points to go
along with six rebounds. Sophomore Whitney Schultheis and Wastler
each tallied six points apiece and junior Jessica Parrish netted
seven points and five boards.
York's Kristen Daly registered a game-high 20 points and grabbed
14 rebounds and Keli Ward chipped in 12 points and six assists to
lead the victors.
The Blazers cap a busy week Saturday with a 2 p.m. date with No.
1 University of Mary Washington in their home debut at Gov. Thomas
Johnson High School.
