FREDERICK, Md.--Freshman Jennifer Willison and sophomore Whitney
Schultheis each netted career-highs to power the Hood College
women's basketball team to a decisive 81-45 victory over the Wilson
College Phoenix Sunday in an Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference
game at Gambrill Gymnasium.
The Blazers (4-16, 3-5 AWCC) won their 14th straight over Wilson
(2-19, 0-8 AWCC) dating back to 2001.
Hood scored the first 14 points of the contest and held Wilson
scoreless from the floor for the first 7:16. The Blazers led by as
many as 29 in the first stanza and took a 46-22 lead into the
break.
Hood continued to pour it on in the second half and finished
with a season-high 81 points, the highest single-game output since
Jan. 30, 2006.
Willison registered a career-high 25 points on 9-of-16 from the
floor to go along with eight rebounds and three steals. Schultheis
also tallied a career-high 16 points and picked off six steals.
Freshman Sara Hartlaub contributed 12 points and blocked six shots,
matching her career-high, while senior Dana Shook chipped in eight
points and dished out a career-best 11 assists.
The Blazers will host AWCC rival Trinity University (D.C.) in
their regular season home finale Tuesday at 7 p.m. Hood will also
honor its two seniors, Tamara Maggard and Dana Shook for their
contributions to the program before the game.
