WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Hood College men's and women's tennis
teams bowed to Catholic University Thursday afternoon in
Washington, D.C. The men's team (2-6) lost 9-0 while the women's
squad (2-7) suffered a 6-3 setback.
The Blazer women won two doubles matches as Dani Hunt and Larisa
Buriak teamed at first doubles to topple Corinne Alcorn and Maureen
Costello, 7-6, 9-7. Christina Rosa and Lisa Blickenstaff also
recorded an 8-6 victory at third doubles.
Blickenstaff knocked off Brenna Mulvaney at No. 6 singles, 6-3,
6-4, for Hood's lone singles victory of the match.
Both the men's and women's squads host Lincoln University
Saturday at noon in non-conference matches. The women's squad also
hosts Mary Washington at 3 p.m.
