WESTMINSTER, Md.-- The Hood College women's tennis team
(3-1) won against McDaniel College (0-1) Monday by the score of
8-1.
The Blazers were led in singles competition by Jillian Elkaim, who
defeated Becky Parks 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot. Elkaim is a
perfect 4-0 on the season and has yet to lose a set this
season. Also victorious for the Blazers in singles
competition were Christine Ocampos-Barry, Laura Saad, Larisa Buriak
and Danielle Hunt.
The Blazers also swept the doubles competition, led by the team of
Ocampos-Barry and Saad in the No. 1 spot. The team of Elkaim and
Hunt ousted Jamie Latham and Kristina Shavirov, 8-4, while Buriak
and Caitlin Erickson scored an 8-1 victory over Becky Fiorentino
and Devan Hamrit.
The Blazers travel to Shepherd University Tuesday for their next
match at 3:30 p.m.
