FREDERICK, Md.--Sophomore Jen Willison connected on 13-of-16
from the floor and finished with a game-high 27 points but it was
not enough as the Hood College women's basketball team (4-16, 2-10
CAC) fell to St. Mary's College (Md.) (14-7, 7-5 CAC) by a final of
71-54 Wednesday.
St. Mary's opened up the game with a 10-2 spurt and never
trailed in the contest. Hood cut a 16-point deficit in half on a
layup by Whitney Boyer with 4:11 to go in the stanza, but the
Seahawks led by 10 at the break (31-21).
The Seahawks led by as many as 24 in the second period as the
Blazers got no closer than eight the rest of the way.
Willison led all scorers with 27 points and pulled down 10
rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Jessica Parrish
finished with seven points, five assists and three steals while
Whitney Boyer had a solid all-around game with six points, six
boards, eight assists and two steals.
Hood continues its four-game homestand Saturday hosting No. 25
Marymount University at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School at 2 p.m.
