ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--Freshman Morgan Wright of the Hood College
women's tennis team (1-2, 0-1 CAC) won at fifth singles and third
doubles in a 6-3 loss to St. Mary's College (Md.) (3-5, 1-1 CAC)
Thursday in the Blazers' first match of the spring.
Wright teamed with Hilary Staufer to defeat Amanda Collins and
Katherine Garlock, 8-6, for Hood's lone doubles win of the
afternoon. The first doubles tandem of Christine Ocampos-Barry and
Larisa Buriak dropped a hard-fought 9-8 (4) decision to Sarah
Weisse and Michelle Compton.
Stephanie Garrett captured Hood's other singles victory at the
No. 2 spot by upending Compton, 8-5.
The Blazers next match is slated for Wednesday at Salisbury
University at 3:30 p.m.
