SALISBURY, Md.--The top-ranked and defending national champion
Salisbury University Sea Gulls (5-0, 2-0 CAC) won 36-of-37
face-offs en route to a 29-5 Capital Athletic Conference victory
over the Hood College men's lacrosse team (0-4, 0-4 CAC) Wednesday.
The Sea Gulls outscored the Blazers 10-1 in the first quarter,
but the Blazers scored four goals on five shots in the second
quarter and trailed 16-5 at halftime. Jason Anderson registered a
pair of goals, while Dominique Shorter, Alex Tkacz and Sofiane
Lazar all blasted single tallies.
The Blazers were unable to find the back of the net in the
second half and mustered just two shots in the final 30 minutes.
A total of 16 different Sea Gulls scored on the afternoon. Sam
Hofmann tallied 15 saves in three-plus quarters in the net while
Nicholas O'Brien finished the contest between the pipes, allowing
four goals.
The Blazers return to action Saturday against nonconference foe
Marywood University. The game will be played at the University of
Scranton and will begin at 4 p.m.
