YORK, Pa. – The squad worked hard in the midfield to push the ball down field but were outmatched by No. 13 York College of Pennsylvania Spartans 20-3 on the road on Wednesday night.
Aidan Gilsdorf (Frederick, Md./Gov Thomas Johnson),
Ty Lesnak (Silver Spring, Md./Northwood) and
James Fay (Howell, N.J./Howell) all end up with a goal on the day.
Lucas Strand (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) grabbed four groundballs.
Robbie Wiley (York, Pa./Central York) served an assist and caused a turnover.
York 20, Hood 3
The Spartans started the game 8-0 run before hitting the wall for nine minutes of play in the second period where the Blazer defense kept the Spartans under wraps.
Wiley with just eight minutes left finds Gilsdorf one-on-one with his back against the goalie and gives a backwards bounce shot to put through Hood's first goal.
Add six to home team and the Blazers were playing for keeps heading into the fourth quarter. Hood kept finding ways to stay successful in clears and spend time in York territory.
Leuba with the save feeds to Fay who receives the pass at midfield and runs with it as long as he had space and takes a shot from just inside the restraining box to net the Blazers second goal.
The sequence for the final score included a turnover caused by
Brennan McKeown (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty),
Jackson Schools (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) swoops in and picks up the ball and chuggs three-quarters of the way down the field before the dish to Lesnak turns into a shot over the top and passed the York keeper.
