How it Happened
- Eastern struck first, gaining a four-goal lead early in the first period. Gilsdorf opened the door up for Hood after catching a pass from Connor Flok (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) and netting an absolute worm burner with two minutes and 34 seconds left in the quarter. The Blazers now trailed the Eagles heading into the second period with a score of 4-1.
- The Eagles started the second period scoring first as Brett Gougler made their fifth goal. The Blazers responded once again as Gilsdorf found the back of the net once again this time off an assist from Robbie Wiley (York, Pa./Central York). With just over three minutes left in the first half Eastern added on two more goals to make it 7 to 2.
- Starting out the third quarter, Eastern managed to take advantage of a man up opportunity and score their eighth; but just a minute later Muldoon showed that he didn't need an extra man to score as he netted his first on the day after a Blazer penalty. The Eagles then went on a three-goal run but the run was then cut short as Wiley netted his first after receiving a pass from Gilsdorf with seven minutes to go in the quarter. Now going into the fourth and final quarter of play Hood trailed Eastern 4-11.
- Although the Eagles managed to score first in each quarter the Blazers looked to win the quarter scoring 4 compared to Easterns 3 this period. Hood ended up going on a three goal run this quarter initiated by Jay Lanigan (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) who caught a pass from James Fay (Howell, N.J./Howell) and scored right on the doorstep of the Eastern goalkeeper with nine minutes and 13 seconds left. Then on a quick restart Strand won the following faceoff and dished it to Muldoon to net Hood's sixth goal of the day. Three minutes later Muldoon netted another taking advantage of a man-up opportunity this time after an Eagle penalty. In response, to Hood's run Eastern added on two more goals to gain a seven-point lead with a score of 14-7. With hopes of coming back the Blazers cut down on the Eagle lead as Latif Yacoubou Adam (Eldersburg, Md./Century) scored his first after catching a pass from Flok with a minute and six seconds remaining but unfortunately time would be deciding factor. As the final buzzer sounded the scoreboard read 14-8 in favor of Eastern.
