FREDERICK, Md.--Junior Caitlin Erickson downed Megan Henszey in straight sets at fifth singles to lift the Hood College women's tennis team (5-3, 2-2 CAC) to a 5-4 Capital Athletic Conference victory over Villa Julie College (1-12, 1-5 CAC) Thursday at the Baker Park Tennis Courts.

Erickson was one of three Blazers to capture singles victories. Christine Ocampos-Barry and Stephanie Garrett earned straight set wins at first and second singles, respectively. Ocampos-Barry also teamed with Larisa Buriak to defeat Samantha Rasnake, 8-4, while Garrett and Erickson knocked off Barbara Hnizda and Becky Matlack, 8-4.

The Blazers have a pair of matches Friday at the Baker Park Tennis Courts. Hood will resume its CAC match with York College (Pa.) at noon followed by a nonconference matchup with Wilson College at 3:30 p.m.
