FREDERICK, Md. -- The Hood College
women's tennis team opened its season with a win against
Frostburg State University edging the Bobcats, 5-4, at the Baker
Park Tennis Courts.
In the singles competition, Christine
Ocampos-Barry defeated Caroline Shedd in the deciding match of the
contest to ensure the Blazers their first win of the season.
Jillian Elkaim defeated Sarah Eisel, 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot.
Larisa Buriak came from behind to down Jannill Sites, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3
at the No. 4 spot. In the No. 6 spot Emily Schrodel topped Theresa
Mills, 6-2, 6-2.
In the doubles competition, Ocampos-Barry
paired with Buriak to defeat Sarah Eisel and Vicky Stafford, 9-7,
at the No. 1 spot.
The Blazers next match will be Monday at the
Baker Park Tennis Courts versus Shenandoah at 3 p.m.
