FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's basketball team (3-11,
1-4 CAC) fell 74-38 to the visiting Marymount University Saints
(11-2, 4-0), ranked No. 20 in the nation, in a Capital Athletic
Conference game at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School.
The Blazers limited the Saints to just 1-of-11 from the field
over the first 5:12 and held a 7-6 edge in the early going.
Marymount finally grabbed the lead at the 14:27 mark on a basket by
Julie Tomesheski.
Clinging to a 14-13 lead after a layup by Hood's Jen Willison
midway through the period, the Saints outscored Hood 24-8 the rest
of the half and led 38-21 at the break.
The Saints would not surrender their double-figure lead in the
second half and went on to capture their fourth CAC win of the
season.
Willison tied for game-high scoring honors with 13 points to
move into seventh place on Hood's all-time scoring chart. She now
has 884 points in her three-year career in the blue and gray. She
also notched her seventh double-double of the season by grabbing 15
boards while Sara Wastler had 11 points, including three
three-pointers.
Four Saints reached double digits in the scoring column, led by
Kathryn Wilson's 13.
Hood returns to action Saturday at Wesley College for a 2 p.m.
