WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Hood College women's basketball team (1-2)
came from behind to register its first win of the season, 59-55,
over Trinity University (D.C.) (1-3) Monday evening in
nonconference action.
The Blazers overcame a five-point halftime deficit and limited
the Tigers to just 28 percent shooting in the second half. Hood
also improved to 15-3 all-time against Trinity.
Hood got off to a fast start, taking a 12-5 lead within the
first 6:10. But the Tigers managed to knot the score at 19-19 on a
three-pointer by Ashley Brown at the 8:18 mark. Trinity led by as
many as seven in the first half and went into the break with a
five-point cushion, 32-27.
The Blazers scored the first seven points of the second half to
regain the upperhand. The Tigers went more than seven minutes
without a field goal and the Blazers kept pouring it on. Hood took
the lead for good with 14:50 to play in the second half.
Allyson Lethbridge paced the Blazers with 19 points, four
assists and three steals while Jen Willison added 18 points and
Kameran Evans netted 12. Trinity's Brown led all scorers with 21
points.
Hood next travels to Salisbury University Wednesday for its
Capital Athletic Conference opener at 6 p.m.
