ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--The Hood College women's basketball team
(4-17, 2-10 CAC) fell to the St. Mary's College Seahawks (7-13, 5-7
CAC), 84-31, Wednesday evening in a Capital Athletic Conference
matchup.
The Seahawks scored the first 11 points of the contest and never
looked back en route to the decisive victory. St. Mary's took
advantage of an undersized Hood lineup, outscoring the Blazers 40-4
in the paint. The Seahawks were also aided by 22 offensive rebounds
which led to 25 second-chance points.
Allyson Lethbridge paced the Blazers with 16 points including
three triples and picked off three steals. Brianna Raithel chipped
in six points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds while
Bridgette Ringley matched her season high with four points and
assisted on three Hood field goals. Christi Valdez saw her first
action of the season and contributed three points, two rebounds,
one assist and one steal and Kim Blocker knocked down a jumper and
snared three rebounds for the Blazers.
Four Seahawk starters reached double figures in scoring, led by
Tiara Hurte's 22 points. Allie Scott and Alex Wenger each
registered double-doubles in the victory.
Hood returns to action Saturday at Marymount University for a 2
p.m. tip.
