STEVENSON, Md.--The Hood College women's tennis team (7-6, 2-0
CAC) moved into first place in the Capital Athletic Conference with
a 6-3 victory over league rival Stevenson University (3-3-1, 1-1
CAC) Friday afternoon.
Hood captured four singles matches and a pair of doubles
contests en route to its fourth straight win of the season.
In singles action, Jillian Elkaim, Christine Ocampos-Barry,
Larisa Buriak and Dani Hunt all won in straight sets. Elkaim
cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Tory Allinson to improve to 10-2 at
first singles. Ocampos-Barry upped her record to 5-7 overall by
defeating Maura Bernstein, 6-3, 6-0. Buriak registered her third
straight singles win by toppling Samm Rasnake, 6-4, 7-5. Hunt
evened her singles mark at 6-6 by defeating Izzy Kaiser, 6-0, 6-3.
Elkaim and Emily Schrodel knocked off Allinson and Bernstein at
first doubles, 8-6, and Caitlin Erickson and Laura Saad rolled to
an 8-1 win over Kaiser and Michelle Huber.
Hood returns to action Sunday hosting Salisbury University in a
CAC match at the Baker Park Tennis Courts.
