YORK, Pa.--Freshman Jillian Elkaim and junior Dani Hunt were
both victorious in singles play Tuesday for the Hood College
women's tennis team (8-9, 2-3 CAC) in a 7-2 Capital Athletic
Conference loss to the York College (Pa.) Spartans (2-9, 1-2 CAC).
Elkaim improved to 3-1 against CAC foes with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph
over Katelyn Acker at first singles. She is now second all-time at
Hood in singles wins with 12 on the season. Hunt upped her record
in singles play to 9-7 overall and 3-1 in the league following an
8-3 win over Samantha Brenner at the No. 6 spot. Christine
Ocampos-Barry went toe-to-toe with Paige Doutrich but came up on
the short end of a 6-4, 6-4 decision at second singles.
The Spartans, who ended a seven-match losing skid with the win,
started the day by sweeping all three doubles matches.
Hood will have minimal recovery time before entertaining Penn
State Abington Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Baker Park Tennis
Courts.
