FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's lacrosse team (2-7, 0-5
CAC) dropped an 11-3 Capital Athletic Conference decision to the
visiting York College (Pa.) Spartans (6-4, 1-3 CAC) Saturday
afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.
The Spartans kept the Blazers off the scoreboard in the opening
half. Three Spartans accounted for all seven of YCP's first half
goals. Kimberly Wayson netted a hat trick while Meaghan Doak and
Meg Foy each notched a pair.
Hood's Caitlin Lawrence got the Blazers on the board with her
17th score of the spring 3:09 into the second half. Kelsey
Blackwell and Brandy Noel also found the back of the net for Hood
in the second stanza.
Wayson finished with a game-best six goals as the Spartans
outshot Hood by a 28-20 margin. Sam Liptrap turned aside six
Spartan shots while Kelsey Evans and Tina Nicklas split time
between the pipes and combined for 12 saves.
Hood looks to put the skids on its four-game slide Tuesday when
the Blazers travel to St. Mary's College (Md.) for a 4 p.m. CAC
matchup.
