SALISBURY, Md.--The Hood College women's tennis team (0-8, 0-2
CAC) suffered a 9-0 Capital Athletic Conference setback to the
Salisbury University Sea Gulls (9-0, 3-0 CAC) Sunday afternoon.
Hood's Emily Maerz gave SU's Jillian Poppe all she could handle
at second singles, before falling 7-6 (4), 7-5. Emily Schrodel
dropped a close match at third singles to Angela Tenaglia, 6-4,
6-4. Hampered by a knee injury, Dani Hunt toughed out a 6-3, 6-3
decision at the No. 6 spot to Rachel Lupinetti.
Salisbury surrendered just four games in the remaining three
singles matches combined, while the Blazers took just three games
from the Sea Gulls in doubles action as well.
Hood next travels to Trinity University (D.C.) Monday to face
the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. This match was rescheduled from March 5.
