Women's Tennis Continues Hot Streak With 9-0 Shutout of Shenandoah

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's tennis team (6-9) ran its win streak to five in a row with a 9-0 blanking of the Shenandoah University Hornets (7-8) Monday afternoon at Baker Park.

The Blazers swept the three doubles matches to start things off. Jillian Elkaim and Emily Schrodel toppled Briana Malkey and Denise Myrick, 9-7, at the No. 1 position. Emily Maerz and Dani Hunt rolled over Candice Sullivan and Bridget O'Rourke, 8-0, at No. 2 and Casey Miller and Kameran Evans wore down Allison Altar and Gabrielle Taylor, 8-2, at No. 3.

Hood captured five of the six singles matches in straight sets. After dropping the first set at fourth singles, 6-4, Hunt rallied to upend Sullivan 6-2 and 10-4 to improve to 5-8 on the year.

Hood travels to Trinity University (D.C.) Tuesday for its final regular season match of the season at 3:30 p.m.
